Disinfection Services

Sanitizing & Disinfection Solutions

My Hygiene Hero provides disinfecting services recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which advises a thorough cleaning before disinfecting to ensure maximum effectiveness and safety against bacteria and viruses, including COVID-19. To achieve optimal disinfection, we follow the recommended dwell times specified in the chemical agent’s Safety Data Sheet (SDS). We only use disinfectants approved by the EPA and listed on EPA List N: Disinfectants for Coronavirus.

We utilize electrostatic sprayer technology with EPA List N-approved disinfectants to eliminate 99% of germs and viruses.

My Hygiene Hero is GBAC certified and ensures continuous training for our staff in the proper use of electrostatic sprayers, disinfectant application, dwell time, and safety precautions.

What is Electrostatic Disinfection?

Electrostatic disinfection utilizes a specialized sprayer that ensures the most effective coverage possible. These sprayers mix the disinfectant solution with air and apply an electric charge through an electrode. The positively charged disinfectant then bonds to negatively charged surfaces, allowing it to coat evenly and eliminate pathogens on all surfaces.

FAQS

The process begins by removing all soil and residue from high-touch surfaces. This step is essential because dirt, dust, and oil create barriers that prevent sanitizing agents from fully contacting the surfaces. Without eliminating these barriers, disinfectants cannot effectively destroy or neutralize the microorganisms that deep cleaning, sanitizing, and disinfecting aim to eliminate.

The EPA defines disinfectants as antimicrobial pesticides that kill or permanently inactivate microorganisms on surfaces and objects. To ensure effectiveness, the EPA maintains a list of approved chemicals known as “List N,” which are proven to be effective against emerging pathogens. Disinfectants on this list will display the “EPA Emerging Pathogen” label or badge on their packaging.

Once surfaces are clear of all residue, disinfectant is applied using a method called electrostatic spraying. The disinfectant particles discharged by the sprayer are moist enough to “wrap around” surfaces, reaching areas that are typically missed during regular cleaning. Electrostatic spraying offers several advantages over traditional disinfectant application methods. Most surfaces are neutral or negatively charged, but electrostatic spraying imparts a strong positive charge to the disinfectant, allowing it to be more easily attracted to and adhere to surfaces. This results in more even coverage and less waste. Additionally, electrostatic spraying is not only more effective than wiping, but it is also 50 times faster and 10 times quicker than traditional electric spraying methods.

Ongoing cleaning through routine disinfection services remains crucial, especially now. The frequency of cleaning should be based on foot traffic—whether daily, weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly—depending on the number of employees and visitors. My Hygiene Hero offers flexible cleaning and disinfection service options on a daily, weekly, bi-monthly, or monthly basis, working with each customer to determine the schedule that best fits their needs.

My Hygiene Hero mandates the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) for all employees, following CDC recommendations. This includes eyewear with protective sides, gloves, masks, and disposable shoe covers to ensure safety during cleaning.

Training is also a key component. Our team members undergo comprehensive training to meet the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards for handling blood-borne and other pathogens encountered in deep cleaning tasks. My Hygiene Hero is certified and has completed the Fundamentals Training Course offered by the Global Bio-risk Advisory Council. This training emphasizes preventative measures, infection control, and contamination protocols for infectious disease risk situations, with a particular focus on SARS, Co-V-2, and COVID-19.
